This will knock the Stuffing outta ya!!
Merry Christmas, hope you had a wonderful day of celebrating and got loads of pressies. The highlight for me yesterday was definitely the dinner – my sister cooked it and it was fantastic (thanks Liz)! There was turkey, ham, stuffing, carrots, parsnips, potato, Brussels’ sprouts and nice little trifle for desert. I even snook in a few sweets too – hey it’s Christmas J
So this morning I wanted a nice little workout to help burn off the extra calories I gobbled up yesterday so I came up with a great little routine I like to call the “St. Stephens Day Scorcher”.
This is a great routine that anyone from beginner to advanced can do as it can be tailored to your level of fitness. I can guarantee you after you try this little workout you’ll have your metabolism kicked into overdrive. It’s bodyweight circuit that can be done using just a pull up bar (and a chair if you’re a beginner), some resistance bands or dumbbells if you don’t have access to bands. It’s an 8 exercise circuit that you can complete a few rounds , each exercise has 10 reps except the calf raises and planks which are 15 reps and 1 minute respectively.
Exercise 1 – Chest: Push-Ups (Can be done on Knees if you’re a beginner).
Exercise 2 – Shoulders: Overhead Resistance bands shoulder presses (Can use dumbbells if you don’t have a band).
Exercise 3 – Upper Back: Pull-ups (Can use a chair for support if you’re a beginner).
Exercise 4 – Quads, Glutes & Hamstrings: Band Squats (Can do body weight if you’re a beginner).
Exercise 5 – Arms Triceps: Behind Neck Band Tricep Extensions
Exercise 6 – Arms Biceps: Chin-Ups (Can use a chair for support if you’re a beginner).
Exercise 7 – Calves: Standing Band Calf Raises
Exercise 8 – Core / Abdominals: Plank (Hold for 1 minute)
I did 6 rounds of it this morning and was wiped by the end of it! I’d recommend completing 2-3 rounds and see how you feel, if you feel you could go another round by all means do but don’t overdo it. Push yourself but always remember to complete every exercise in proper form – 2-3 rounds in excellent form is much better than 4-5 rounds in sloppy form.
Hope you enjoy this “St Stephens Day Scorcher” – I certainly did. If you try it or have a similar routine you like or if you have any questions please leave a comment.
